AMT Trailing Entry Orders
Automated trailing stop/stop-limit entries that follow price
Enables submission and management of buy/sell orders that trail current price. Buy orders are submitted as stop (or stop-limit) orders above current price; sell orders below. If the distance between a resting order and current price exceeds the specified threshold, the order is automatically adjusted. Multiple trail entries can be managed simultaneously.
The Concept
Trailing Entry Orders automates the management of stop and stop-limit entries that follow price. Instead of manually adjusting your resting entry order as price moves, this study trails the order at a configurable distance. When price moves away, the order automatically adjusts to maintain the specified offset — ensuring your entry stays relevant without constant monitoring.
How to Read It
The study manages orders and displays a status panel — no chart drawings.
- Status display shows: system enabled state, current offset distance, and trail enabled state
- Buy orders trail above current price as stop entries — triggered if price rises to the level
- Sell orders trail below current price as stop entries — triggered if price falls to the level
- Multiple trail entries can be active simultaneously for scaling into positions
Practical Tips
Use ACS Custom Study Buttons for quick control — assign buttons for enable/disable, buy order, sell order, and trail toggle. The Update Frequency controls how often resting orders are checked — faster updates trail more precisely but generate more order modifications. Start with Stop order type; use Stop-Limit in fast markets where fill quality matters.

|---|---|---|
| 1 | Enable Study | Enable / Disable all order related functionality within the study. |
| 2 | Button#: Enable/Disable | Sets the ACS Custom Study Button that can be used to control the study enabled state. Min: 0 (Not Used), Max: 150. |
| 3 | Button#: Buy Order | Sets the ACS Custom Study Button that can be used to submit new buy orders. Min: 0 (Not Used), Max: 150. |
| 4 | Button#: Sell Order | Sets the ACS Custom Study Button that can be used to submit new sell orders. Min: 0 (Not Used), Max: 150. |
| 5 | Button#: Trail Enable/Disable | Sets the ACS Custom Study Button that can be used to control whether order trailing is enabled. Min: 0 (Not Used), Max: 150. |
| 6 | Order Type | Defines the type of entry order submitted by the study. Options: Stop; Stop-Limit. In the case of Stop-Limit orders, the limit offset is controlled via the trade window. |
| 7 | Offset By | Sets the unit of measure used when defining the order offset distance. Options: Price; Ticks. |
| 8 | Distance | Sets the initial (and maximum trail) offset distance. Min: 0, Max: 100. |
| 9 | Enable Trailing | Enable / Disable the order trailing functionality within the study. Resting entry orders are adjusted (based on the Update Frequency) when the distance offset is exceeded. |
| 10 | Update Frequency (ms) | Determines how often, in milliseconds, the resting order offsets should be checked/updated. Min: 250ms, Max: 10000ms. |
| 11 | Show Status Display | Defines if (and where) status text display should be displayed. Shows: System Enabled State, Current Offset, and Trail Enabled State. Options: No, Left, Right. |
| 12 | Use Font Back Color | When enabled, the status display is drawn with an opaque background, otherwise the text background is transparent. |
