AMT IB Extreme Order

Predict the first post-IB breakout direction from extreme order

Tracks which IB extreme (High or Low) forms first during the Initial Balance period. 18 years of ES data show LOW first → UP breakout at 74% and HIGH first → DOWN breakout at 67%. Includes IB box visualization, extension levels, breakout detection, and an on-chart dashboard with running stats.

How It Works

The Initial Balance (IB) is the price range established in the first 60 minutes of RTH. During IB formation, one extreme — the session high or low of the IB period — is set before the other. This order predicts the direction of the first post-IB breakout.

  • HIGH forms first → IB high is established early, then price pulls down to set the IB low. First breakout tends to be DOWN through the IB low (67% accuracy).
  • LOW forms first → IB low is established early, then price pushes up to set the IB high. First breakout tends to be UP through the IB high (74% accuracy).
  • Larger IB ranges produce stronger signals: 77% accuracy for large ranges vs 64% for small.
  • The signal is stable across 18 years of data with no degradation over time.

On-Chart Features

The study draws the IB range, extension levels, and signal labels directly on your chart. A configurable on-chart dashboard shows IB levels, the current signal, edge probabilities, breakout status, and running win/loss statistics across loaded history.

Backtested Trade Simulation

Built-in trade simulation with configurable entry mode (Breakout, Pullback, or IB Close), stop placement, extension targets, break-even management, and trailing stop modes. Trade markers and an equity curve can be displayed on the chart for walk-forward analysis.

Requirements

  • Sierra Chart with ACSIL (Advanced Custom Study Interface and Language)
  • Chart timeframe: 1, 2, 5, 10, or 15 minutes
